Rules
some sympathic intro to rules
We know - this is the non-fun part of the story: Race rules...
Rules are for noobs you say? Well - Let us keep it simple, that is:
- Everyone who makes it into the tournament is expected to be a perfect gentlemen. Be nice or you will most probably not be admitted to a following event if one is held.
- If you cause a crash, you wait for the one you crashed to overtake you NEXT TO THE TRACK in order not to disturb the traffic and DO NOT OVERTAKE until after the next curve
- Alternatively - but only as second choice - take a 10 second penalty in the pits
- A taunt saying "sorry" is most often a simple way to make it forget after ;)
- Dont spam - or you will get banned from all races after the one there
- The organizing committee holds the right for uninviting you from the tournament if you misbehave - just keep cool on track and all turns out good - in the name of fun!
Rules of groups, ranking, standings and points:
- A player that misses a race will remain in the same group/grid position with the other players being shuffled around that player with the time results of their race.
- One race may be missed - we count the 6 best results of 7 races.
- Cars can be switched until race 1. The car you pick in race one will be the car for the whole tournament for you.
- Points are awarded at two levels:
- 1. Points for the finishing position in the respective groups, finishing as / points
- 1st - 12 points
- 2nd -10 points
- 3rd - 8 points
- 4th - 7 points
- 5th - 6 points
- 6th - 5 points
- 7th - 4 points
- 8th - 3 points
- 9th - 2 points
- 10th - 1 points
- 2. Points for the total time in which all players of all groups finish the race. So the player to have the fastest time completing the race receives 30 points and the player with the slowest time receives 1 point.
- 1. Points for the finishing position in the respective groups, finishing as / points
- Missing players are not awarded any points and remain in the same group they were placed for the following race but moved to the back of the grid - remember - one race (the worst result) wont be counted so you all may miss one race.
- If a player drops during first lap, session may be stopped and restarted. If it happens a second time the remaining players will keep racing. These races are too long to endlessly restart. It will be a disappointment if it happens, but look at it as a if you were in a real race and your engine just blew. (if you have an unstable internet provider it might be wise not to participate)
- Less then 5 players and the race may be rescheduled by group leader. We are truly hoping that this will not happen and that all that chose to participate will have a serious degree of commitment.
After considering the discussion and input from the community, and with the help from Brook's clever and elegant solution we have made changes to the way the pit stops will work in the Donington Race.
Updated Instructions for Pitting during Donington Race
- When to PIt
- The first open pits window begins when your personal lap counter reads 10, 11, or 12. You choose which of these three laps to come in and pit.
- The second open pits window begins when your personal lap counter reads 20, 21, or 22. Again you decide which of these 3 laps to come in and pit.
- You will have to pit at the end of any of the alloted laps, because the pit entrance follows the last chicane at the beginning of the main straight. It helps to plan ahead.
- Pits are closed outside these sets of three lap windows.
- To help remind drivers of upcoming pit windows, the group leader will try to provide "courtesy taunts" reminding drivers that pit windows are approaching. Something like "Don't forget to pit".
- Where to Pit
- There are no assigned pit locations. For simplicity, drivers may use any open garage space they choose during any pit stop.
- How to Pit:
- Exit the track after the chicane, then stay to the right of the yellow line in the pit lane until choosing any garage to stop next to. Be cautious, and considerate as wrecks in here will be embarrassing.
- In each pit stop drivers must come to a complete STOP. Repeat - a complete STOP.
- Drivers will then put their gear box in reverse (R) then back up a small distance - one meter or so is plenty.
Drivers may then switch to a forward gear and safely exit the pits to rejoin the track. - Note:
What is important is that you STOP, use reverse gear, and rotate the drive wheels in reverse direction. Distance is not important. In replay what we will look for is complete stops followed by rear wheelspin. Do that and you are golden.
- What NOT to do
- Fail to come to a complete stop in pit or reverse, a time penalty will be added to your final time. :15 secs Ouch.
- Pitting outside the three lap window, time will be added to your final time. :30 secs.
- Fail to pit at all, time will be added to your final time. 1:00 Real Bad.
- Pitting tips learned from MP testing:
- Pick your pit lap carefully as congestion in the pits can lead to incidents. Looking at the map on the long straight before the chicane helps as you can clearly see dots of cars that are in pits.
- Can't get around someone slower than you? Don't pit when he does. You might be able to pass him while he is being serviced.
- Check your rear view and the map before you exit your garage and again as you enter turn 1.
- Even if you do a perfect pit stop, you can't make time in the pits, but you can lose time. Please be cautious and considerate.
